Vitamin C

Also known as Ascorbic Acid, vitamin C is a vitamin involved in the repair of tissues, collagen synthesis.

It is required for the functioning of many enzymes in the body and immune system function.

It also acts as an antioxidant. Found in vegetables and citrus fruit such as Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Mandarins, Clementines

Vitamin B

B complex vitamins include vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6

They’re a class of water soluble vitamins that play a role in cell metabolism

Vitamin B12 is produced by certain bacteria & archaea.  Some vit B12 is found on plants that herbivores eat, in the animal the vitamin proliferates producing B12 internally

Most B vitamins are found in legumes, wholegrains, eggs & meat.

The body’s cells contain glutathione made up from 3 amino acids (cysteine, glutamate, glycine). It acts as an important antioxidant. Antioxidants combat free radicals that cause damage in the body.

Glutathione also plays a role in chemical reactions thereby detoxifying chemicals in the body and has an effect of skin lightening by converting melanin to a lighter colour. Gluthathione decreases in the body as you age.

It is not absorbed well from foods however, eating foods rich in amino acids that contain sulfur which form glutathione helps boosts it’s levels. These are broccoli, asparagus, spinach, avocados, garlic

Kojic Acid

Kojic Acid is a natural antioxidant and antibiotic with anti-inflammatory properties.

It is derived mushrooms (Aspergillus) and is procured via fermentation.

It inhibits and prevents the formation of tyrosine, an amino acid that’s needed to produce melanin, a pigment that affects hair, skin and eye colour. Because of this it has lightening effects.

It is found in topical cosmetic products.

It’s primary use and benefit is to lighten visible sun damage, age spots, scars, uneven skin tone, all forms of hyperpigmentation.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha lipoic acid(ALA) is an organic compound found in human cells in small amounts.

It is a powerful antioxidant and is also linked to several benefits including lowering blood sugar, reducing inflammation, slowing skin aging and, improving nerve function.

Research has shown that it affects weight loss slightly by suppressing enzyme AMPK which increases calories burned at rest.

Good sources of ALA include: potatoes, green peas, spinach, broccoli, rice bran, organ meats (liver, kidney)

Side effects only occur at high doses.

Amino Acids

High intensity training increases the turnover and loss of various micronutrients from the body.

IV amino acids exert ergogenic effects improving athletic performance. It is a better alternative to using illegal performance enhancing drugs.

Arginine stimulates the pituitary gland to release endogenous growth hormone to add to the natural increase of growth hormone through exercise.

Other important vitamins ie. vit C are incorporated for antioxidant effect (removing reactive oxygen species in muscle that causes fatigue) and function in collage synthesis.
